Melvin Donald Lyle, 73, of 44 Belmont Avenue, Asheville, died Tuesday, April 10, 2007.
Mr. Lyle was born in Asheville and was a son of the late J.W. and Marie Weaver Lyle. He was also preceded in death by sisters, Nora Christopher and Vivian Wells, and a brother, William Lionel Lyle.
He was a graduate of Lee H. Edwards High School and was a self-employed painter and carpenter. He was a member of West Asheville Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are his wife, Leila (Lee) Wright Lyle and a sister, Sara M. Christopher.
Graveside services will be at 3:00 p.m. Friday at Green Hills Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Hearts with Hands, 951 Sand Hill Road, Asheville, NC 28806.
Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue is assisting with the arrangements.

Mr.Lyle will be greatly missed.He was a very caring person. He was a father figure to me. I enjoyed getting to know him while I was caring for his brother Lionel.Rest in Peace. Mrs. Lyle, you are in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
