Meta Mae Shipman

Arden ~ Meta Mae Shipman 94, of 2644 Hendersonville Road, died Saturday, July 12, 2003, at Park Ridge Hospital. A native of Buncombe County, Mrs. Shipman was born June 17, 1909 to the late Will and Lilly Frady. She was the wife of the late Morris Shipman, who died in 1953. Survivors include two daughters, Joyce Shipman of Arden and Peggy Presley of Fletcher; four grandchildren, Eugene Presley, Francis “Sis” Hedrick and Gerald Presley, all of Fletcher and Sherry Huntley of Asheville; five great-grandchildren, Michael Presley, Kristin Presley, Cameron Presley, Amy Huntley and Tyler Huntley; three step great-grandchildren, Donnie Davis, II, Mandy Bradford and Michael Davis and four step-great-great-grandchildren; one nephew, A. Hampton Frady, Jr., one niece, Ann Frady Johnson and a great-niece, Elizabeth Ann Frady. Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Calvary Episcopal Churchyard with the Rev. G. Scott Lynch officiating. Grandchildren and great-grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 pm Monday at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian on Long Shoals Road. Memorials may be made to Mountain Area Hospice, P.O.
