Michael A. Wilhelm

Michael A. Wilhelm, 71, of Arden, passed away after years of declining health on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at the Memorial Campus of Mission Hospitals. A native of Catawba County, he was the son of the late Levi Wilhelm and Hazel Stafford Wilhelm Allison. He was also preceded in death his step-father, Leroy Allison. Michael retired in 2000 after 36 years of service with the Department of Transportation – Division of Highways as a technical engineer. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Brenda Shelton Wilhelm; one daughter, Ruth Wilhelm Hashway and her husband, David, of Providence, RI; one son, Mike Wilhelm of Arden as well as two granddaughters, Jessie Wilhelm of Arden and Katlyn Hashway of Providence, RI. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, April 17, 2014 at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian. Interment will follow at Patty's Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 PM on Thursday at the funeral home and at other times will be at the home.
