Michael P. Bowling, 51, died unexpectedly Sunday, September 13, 2015, at his home. A native of Asheville, Michael was a son of the late Onest P. "Buddy" and Emma Jean Riddle Bowling. A registered nurse, Michael worked with Asheville Cardiology Associates. He is survived by his daughter, Emma Kay Bowling; son, Julian Patha Bowling and their mother, Tammy Taylor Bowling; sister, Laura Bowling; brother, Dr. Mark R. Bowling (Donna) and their daughters, Julia Marie Bowling and Katherine Ann Bowling; nephew Taylor Andrew DeMaar; niece Morgan Alexandra DeMaar. A gifted singer and musician, Michael was beloved by his children and extended family. He will certainly be missed. A gathering of family and friends will be from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. Tuesday September 22, 2015, at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue, with private burial at Green Hills Cemetery.

We simply cannot imagine the great pain and sorrow you are experiencing during this very difficult time. It is our sincere hope you find comfort in knowing that God has promised to ‘swallow up death forever’ (Isaiah 25:8), and that he will resurrect our dear loved ones who have passed away. John 5:28.

  12. I am so sad for the loss of my cousin Michael. He had a beautiful voice and was very talented. My Aunt Jean brought tapes of Michael performing, and we would enjoy listening to them while she visited. She and Buddy were so proud of his many talents. I miss them so much, and now Michael has gone to be with them in heaven. My heart aches for his young children, but I know God will comfort and watch over them. They will be in my thoughts and prayers.

  14. Mike’ and I go all the way back, I believe, to first grade at Emmanuel Lutheran, so this comes as a total shock. I will remember him during Eucharist (Mass) on Sunday.

Jesus promised us a wonderful resurrection of the dead (John 5:28,29/1 Thessalonians 4:13, 14), so we have the hope of being reunited with our deceased loved ones. In the meantime, even though the pain of loss through death may seem sometimes insurmountable, rest assured that God will give you the strength necessary to endure the coming months (Psalm 46:1).   16. I enjoyed working with Michael at Asheville Cardiology and the friendship we shared. From the history stories, songs, and acting out Shakespeare’s Richard III Michael will be missed. Michael loved his children and the Lord Jesus. Julian and Emma were truly the lights of his life.

  18. Michael and I shared a desk at ACA for over a year. We listened to great music while we worked, and maintained a constant flow of silly chat. He was a generous man, quick to help his coworkers and friends. His stories about Israel, his childhood and his children were enjoyed by all. He could sing opera in 4 languages, and sing the Jewish Temple prayers. My heart aches for Emma, Julian and the Taylors. We all know he is finally at peace with the Lord.

  19. I worked with Michael at Asheville Cardiology. He was a capable and caring nurse. He is missed by all of us at ACA. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

    He was a dedicated son, caring brother, talented musician, but most of all a devoted father. We will miss him greatly.

  21. Michael and I worked together many years ago at Mountain Foods. I have very fond memories of our produce days and Michael’s trips to Atlanta in the produce truck. He was a mensch and will be missed.

  26. Mike and I worked together at Asheville Cardiology for many years. He cared deeply about his patients, his job and loved his family. I enjoyed our talks about music and history. I will miss Mike.

  27. I had the opportunity to meet him only a couple of times through our Church. I was able to talk at length with him at one point It was obvious he had a huge heart. We are praying for the family to have peace in his passing.

  28. I will miss Michael at ACA. He was a great nurse and good friend. He openly discussed his faith so I know this is but a brief goodbye until we meet in Heaven. He loved his family and his Savior. He touched my heart in too many ways to name. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

  31. To Laura, Mark, Tammy, Julian, Emma, the sadness can be overwhelming, but daily, I am reminded what a truly Loving, talented, bright man Michael was. I am so thankful to have reconnected with him recently, as he was always my best friend. Never ever will his humor, his voice, his brilliant mind and generous loving heart be forgotten.
