Michael McMinn, 63, of Fletcher, a hardworking and dedicated family man, went to his heavenly home on May 28, 2023 following a courageous battle with cancer.
Michael was preceded in death by his wonderful, loving father, Vernon McMinn, Jr. Also waiting to meet him in Heaven are grandkids, Hope McMinn and Asher Christian.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 44 years, Roxanne; children Josh (Christi), Tabatha (Myles) and Michaela (Brian); grandkids, Caitlyn, Logan, Ayden, Molly, McKenna, Ashton, Nevaeh, Mia and Avery; “very special” sister, Cindy (Tim); in-laws, Burl and Rhea Lance; “adopted grandkids”, Triston and Tyson; several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends, as well as his mom, Claudia and Debbie.
You could normally find him supporting his grandkids, gardening, or enjoying the outdoors. He was a volunteer fireman at Fletcher for 15 years. Michael built houses for 44 years, including the last 25+ years in Highlands, NC, where he was better known as Spanky. He finished out his career working for his son at McMinn Company. There could never be a better husband, dad, papaw, or boss man around.
The family would like to thank Weldon (Linda), Ruth and Buddy (JoAnn) for supporting Michael and his family, as well as Four Seasons Palliative/Hospice and Pardee Cancer Center for their exceptional care.
A Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 PM on Tuesday, May 30 at Hoopers Creek Baptist Church with Pastors Phillip Youngblood, and Keith Norris officiating. Burial will follow in the new section of Hoopers Creek Cemetery and the family will greet friends at the church on Tuesday from 2:00 until 3:00 PM.

Rick and I loved getting to know Michael while building our home in GlenCove. He always had a twinkle in his eye while telling stories about his family. Although his time on earth was too short, he leaves a legacy that is large and filled with memories of all the people he touched. We are grateful to have know him for even a short time.
