A native of Buncombe County, she was a daughter of the late Burder and Sallie Smith Plemmons. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert Lee Camby Jr.; siblings Mabel Morgan, Virginia Corn, Harold Plemmons, son in law, John Thomas and her dog, Max.

Mickey was a graduate of Lee H. Edwards High School and enjoyed a very adventurous young life. She was extremely athletic, loved roller skating and was a member of a dance roller skate team. She was a truly caring, loving and a wonderful mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. To say that she will be missed by all is an understatement.

Mickey was a devout Christian and her love of God was evident. Her children saw Mickey as one of the most positive and happy individuals that you could ever meet. She was full of joy, had an incredible laugh, always up for anything, and enjoyed going out and having fun. She loved with all of her heart and never met a stranger. She was truly one of a kind and was loved by all who had the pleasure to be around her.

She is survived by her son, Chad Lee Camby (his wife Donna), her daughter, Michelle Simmons (her husband Daniel), seven grandchildren, Nina Camby (her husband Matthew Beaver), John Thomas, Jared Thomas, Madison Simmons, Jared Kay (his wife Sonia), Emily Freck (her husband Billy), and Justin Kay as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and great grandchildren.

We are so sorry for your loss but we also rejoice in the fact that there is another Angel in God’s Choir! Micky was always so kind, loving, and supportive of all those who she loved. We do feel privileged, honored, and truly blessed, to have known Micky and to have had the opportunity to love and enjoy the times we had with her. She had such a gentle spirit that drew people to her and she was always ready to greet you with that contagious smile and hug. May our God continue to watch over all you guys and may we all find comfort in the word and love of our Savior, Jesus Christ. Love to all!!

  9. My prayers are with the whole family. I was so sorry to learn of Mickey’s passing. I will always cherish the visits we had together. My sister, Carol, and I really enjoyed our last visit with Mickey. We spent a lot of our time just sitting and talking about old times. We couldn’t have asked for a more enjoyable visit. Now Carol and Mickey can visit together in Heaven.

  10. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. Mickey was a wonderful woman and I feel blessed to have known her.

  11. My mom, JoAnn Lehman, and Mickey were church buddies. I always knew when Mom was on the phone with her because she would spend so much time laughing.
    Rest in peace, Mickey.
