Mildred Coates Rhymer

She was born June 9, 1911 in Madison County and resided in Buncombe County. She was the daughter of the late William Henry and Betty West Coates and the wife of the late Eugene Morris Rhymer who died in l995. She was a member of Merrimon Avenue Baptist Church, where she served as a volunteer
receptionist for several years. She was a  Faithful employee at Ivey's, Bon Marche, and Meyers Arnold Department Store. Upon her retirement she became a full time mother, grandmother, and great- grandmother. The seeds of love and kindness she sowed into her family will
continue to grow for generations.

Surviving are her daughter Barbara R. Lamb, grandchildren Lia Lamb Maltry and husband Wayne,
Laura Lamb Criss and husband Scott, great-grandchildren, Hannah Elizabeth Maltry, Rebekah
Alexandra Maltry, and Coleman Isaiah Criss, sister Velma Coates Dacy,  all of Asheville.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Thursday in the Patton Avenue Chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Reverend Doctor Bill Bigham officiating. Burial will follow in West Memorial Park.

Her family will receive friends 7-8:30pm Wednesday at the funeral home and at other times will be at 23 Woodhill Drive, Asheville.
