Mildred Gentry Yearout, 96, passed away on Friday, May 31, 2024.

A native of Buncombe Co., Mildred was a daughter of the late Claude and Viola Gentry. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Yearout, and her siblings: Wyatt, Flora Mae, Claude, Laura, and Junie.

Mrs. Yearout proudly served as a Lieutenant in the Salvation Army. She was also a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church for 17 years, and worked for many years in the church’s Child Enrichment Center.

She is survived by her sons, Dennis Yearout and Keith Yearout (Debbie).

Her family will receive friends on Friday evening, June 7, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. The funeral service will be held the next day at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The Rev. Dr. Ronnie Owen will officiate. Burial will then take place at Green Hills Cemetery.

    • Aunt Mildred loved the Lord and served him faithfully her entire life and was such a blessing to our family. I am sure she is with daddy and momma praising the Lord.
