Mildred Ida Cogburn Pruitt, 89, went to be with her Lord on July 4, 2018, at The Brian Center in Weaverville, surrounded by loved ones.
Mildred was born February 21, 1929 to Cleatus Davis Cogburn and Vernon George Cogburn. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Pruitt, her brother, Vernon George Cogburn, Jr., her sister, Ellen Gibson, and her beloved grandson, Robert L. Pruitt. She was a faithful member of Temple Baptist Church for over 50 years.
She is survived by her son, Richard H. Pruitt; daughters, Patricia L. Pruitt and special friend Bob Jones, Lesia A. Hensley, and Robin L. Burke and husband Terry; grandchildren, Joshua Pruitt, Matthew Pruitt, Hannah Pruitt, Shannon Hensley Reyes, Melissa Hensley Robinette, Laurie Burke, Nathan Burke, Christen Burke Brewer, and Charity Burke McGuire; 12 great-grandchildren, Lee Ann, Maddison, Shelby, Leighton, Trey, Mason, Paxtyn, Kayleigh, Ella, Elijah, Amiya and Reed; and sister, Betty Hunting. Her children and family were her priority, and she dedicated her life to them after the passing of her husband in 1965.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 7, in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home, with funeral services following at 6:00 p.m. The Rev. Randy Bray, Rev. Terry Burke, Pastor Perry Burke and Pastor Duane Boyer will officiate.
Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday at Green Hills Cemetery.

To Lesia and Patti; Melissa and Shannon, I am so sorry to hear of the passing of your dear mom and grandmother. She was always pleasant and always asked how we were doing. And such a faithful lady in attending church! I know you will miss her very much, but how wonderful to know that she is truly alive and well with her Savior. You all are in my thoughts and prayers.
Lesia, Patti and family- I pray that God will give you comfort and peace during this time of your mom’s passing. She was a sweet lady and well loved. She is now rejoicing in the presence of our Lord.
