Mildred Jane “Julie” Modlin, 84, of Hendersonville, passed away Sunday, January 28, 2018 at Carillon Assisted Living. She was a daughter of the late Clarence and Mary Watkins Sanders, natives of Washington, Missouri. She was also preceded in death by one infant daughter, Vickie Lynn Modlin; one grandson, Thain Lisenbee, as well as her brothers and sisters. Julie worked for 36 years as an insurance underwriter for Mid-Continent Casualty Company in Tulsa, OK and then for 10 years as the primary biscuit maker for the McDonalds on Airport Road in Arden. She enjoyed spending Friday and Saturday nights listening to country music and dancing at the Feed and Seed, as well as spending time with her treasured grandchildren. She is survived by one daughter, Tina Lisenbee, of Hendersonville; one son, Patrick Modlin and his wife, Jayne, of Omaha, NE; two grandchildren, Jennifer Toates and her husband, Mike of Sioux Falls, SD and Kyle Modlin and his wife, Cortney of Omaha, NE, as well as four great-grandchildren, Dannielle, John, Isaac and Gabriel. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, February 2, 2018 in the Chapel of Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian. Her family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home and interment will be held at Calvary Episcopal Church in Fletcher. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Julie’s name to either Four Seasons Compassion For Life, 471 S. Allen Road, Flat Rock, NC 28791, the WNC Nature Center, 75 Gashes Creek Road, Asheville, NC 28805 or to Brother Wolf Animal Rescue, 31 Glendale Avenue, Asheville, NC 28803.
