Mildred Melton Ward

MILDRED M. WARD Mildred Melton Ward, 90, of Asheville, died Wednesday, March 8, 2006, at Park Ridge Hospital in Fletcher. Mrs. Ward was born in Buncombe County and was a daughter of the late Charles and Rachel Harper Melton. She was married to Claude D. Ward, who died in 1976. Mrs. Ward formerly worked as a nurse at St. Joseph Hospital and was a former plant nurse at Beacon Manufacturing Co. She was a former member at Oteen Baptist Church and at Meadowbrook Baptist Church in Black Mountain. She is survived by a brother, Eugene E. Melton and his wife, Anita, of Asheville; two nieces, Suzanne Bielenberg of Maryville, TN and Mary Ann Hester of Oxford, NC. A graveside service will be at 12:00 noon Thursday at Green Hills Cemetery with the Rev. Jane Smith officiating. Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue is assisting with the arrangements.
