Mildred P. Wright

Mrs. Wright was born June 21, 1908, in Asheville, and was a daughter of the late Burt L. and Minnie Elmore Pugh.  She was married to Clyde W. Wright, who died December
22, 1998.

Mr. and Mrs. Wright established a scholarship fund through the Community Foundation of Western North Carolina, to which her estate will be awarded.  She was a member of Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church and was an accomplished musician who played in an orchestra, at community affairs, in the church, and also had an early morning music show on the local radio station WWNC.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, George and Charles Pugh, and a sister, Edith Pugh Adams.

Mrs. Wright is survived by
four sisters-in-law, Vesta Chandley Hardy, Marjorie W. McElreath, and Edith W. Goebel of Asheville and Mary Wright of Fort Lauderdale, FL;  a brother-in-law, Pat M. Wright of Asheville;  a special niece, Pat A. Reid of Shelby, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be at 3:30 pm Wednesday at Green Hills Cemetery with the Rev. Bill Bigham officiating.

Friends may call at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue Wednesday until 3:00 pm.
