Mildred Rice Goldsmith, 85, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 29, 2013.
Mrs. Goldsmith was born in Haywood County and was a daughter of the late Harlie and Willie Belle Thurman Rice. She was preceded in death by her husband, Birt H. Goldsmith, who died in 2006, and by a brother, Wade Rice.
She was retired from Bussman Corp., and was a member of Oakley Baptist Church, the Golden Circle Sunday School Class, and the Crusaders of Oakley Baptist.
She is survived by two brothers, William Leslie Rice (Jerilene), of Black Mountain and Arthur "Jimmy" Rice (Edna Joyce), of Seven Springs; and special friends, Frances and Marvin Watts of Asheville.
Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. Sunday at Oakley Baptist Church with the Rev. Tom Pierce officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.

Fond memories from Oakley Baptist. Mildred was a special lady and very special friend of my Mom, Iva Yarborough. They are all together again now with their husbands, getting Heaven ready for the rest of us. Prayers for the family.
Aunt Mildred we love you and will miss you. Take care of Uncle Birt and Randall for us! And, don’t let Uncle Birt free Randall’s june bug!!
