Mildred Valentine Catherine “Millie” Towle, 90, a former resident of the Princess Anne Hotel in Asheville, died Saturday, January 1, 2000, in a Fairview nursing center.

Mrs. Towle was born in Brooklyn, NY, was a daughter of the late Herman and Ida Adams Wielandt, and was married to Felix S. Towle, who died in 1957.

She was a singer and dancer with the Ziegfield Follies in 1926 and 1927, and later worked as a dental hygienist and as a dance instructor. She had lived in Asheville since 1984 and attended St. Eugene’s Catholic Church.

She is survived by a daughter, Lorraine Baumann of Wilmington, four grandchildren, Elizabeth Dalton of Fairview, Robert Loeber of Scranton, NC, William Loeber of Wilmington, & Richard Loeber of Oceanport, NJ ; twelve great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be conducted at 1:30 pm Wednesday at St. Eugene’s Catholic Church by the Rev. Mr. Jos Vandermeer.
