Mildred Younginer Sumner

Mildred Younginer Sumner, 93, of 35 Sareva Place, Asheville, died Friday, June 15, 2002, in Douglasville, GA. Mrs. Sumner was born in Buncombe County and was a daughter of the late Glen and Sophia Young Younginer. She was married to Leo B. Sumner who died in 1996. Mrs. Sumner was retired from the US Government Postal Accounts office in St. Louis, MO and was a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, the Daughters of the American Revolution, and the First Presbyterian Church in Asheville. She is survived by several nieces and nephews including Betty Dewell and her husband Bill with whom Mrs. Sumner made her home in Douglasville and Larry Sumner and his wife Jeani of Asheville. Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Monday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. Don Welborn officiating. Burial will be at Green Hills Cemetery. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service and request that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society or to the American Heart Association.
