To the Arthur family, I would like to express my sincere condolences on the loss of your mother. She was a wonderful, caring lady. Mrs. Arthur and her ‘burgers and ice cream’ will always be a part of fond memories hanging out with the crowd at Arcadia during my youth. May God bless and give you peace each day. Jean Graham
To The Arthur Family,
I learned of Millicent’s death from my parents, Jim and Margaret Hutchison. They were so fond of her and of your late Dad as well. Her presence at Trinity church will be missed…her participation in the Sprinkle-Bagwell Bible class, the YAH, etc.
Mom and Dad talked fondly of the great times they had at her place on the hill…many picnics, church suppers, etc.
As a child, growing up in West Asheville it was always a treat to go out to the Arcadia Dairy for ice cream or a good shake on Sunday afternoon. Arcadia milk was a staple in our house as well.
Please find comfort in the fact that others share your loss and lift you up in prayer.
My prayers and thoughts are with you all at this time. What wonderful memories we all have of ‘Ma Arthur’.
Ms. Millicent, a true southern gal. I have vivid memories of her, Ms. Lena, and my Grandma Ulma at the soda shop. Those three amazed me with their longevity and life long friendship. We should all be that blessed to have such good friends as those were to each other. Grandma Ulma Matson is still going strong at almost 93 and the stories she shares about her adventures with Ms. Lena and Ms. Millicent are priceless.
My deepest sympathy to the Arthur family in this time. God bless each of you.
To the Arthur Family,
My memories of Aunt Millient are part of my memories of going to the cabin for family reunions. Even though I only saw her once a year, she always made those of us who were from out of town feel welcome. She is missed.
Mrs. Arthur’s entire family will be in my prayers – I did not have the privilege of knowing her – but I do know her wonderful son Charlie and I am sure she knew he is a GODLY tribute to her family.
God Bless you Charlie and all your mothers family. May you all have Peace and the JOY of the Lord – which is your strength.
Our deepest condolences goes out to you all in the passing of your mother, she will always be remember as having the Best Soda Shop anywhere, and always willing to give us a summer time job while we were still in High School. May God be with you on your lost, she will always be in the heart of each one of you. Our prayers are with you.
To the Arthur Family:
Please know that all of you are in our thoughts and prayers.
Mrs. Arthur was a friend of my Mother and Daddy when they were young.
Mrs. B was always kind and helpful to me. Just the mention of her name brings back the Arcadia Dairy, as Mr Arthur used to deliver Arcadia milk to our house.
Blessings on all of you,
Tommy and Jessie Koontz
Goodbye Ma Arthur from one of your many younguns. I will always remember the hot dogs, the grilled cheese sandwiches, the milkshakes and ice cream from the Soda Shop. You and Lena and the other ladies made this long ago teenager always feel welcome even late at night near closing time when we came in from ‘possum hunting and later on with our dates.
You are missed, but the memories live on.
On behalf of my family and my mother, Mrs. ‘Kinky’ Morgan (Beulah), I would like to express our prayers to you in your mother’s passing. I used to ride with my daddy (Morgan’s Produce)when he delivered produce to Arcadia back in the late 50’s. It was a real treat for us to end up at Arcadia for lunch. Still the best hamburgers I ever had! Millicent would always take time to talk to me and offer me some ice cream. I can still hear her voice as she joked with my dad and calling his name, ‘Kinky’. I remember her as a very savvy business lady!
My mom, Beulah, is still alive at 95 and going strong. She has very fond memories of Millicent. I remember we delivered several puppies to your family and most ended up on the highway! I think we were the recipients of kittens!
May God comfort you during this time.

Thinking of you in your time of sorrow. Just hearing your mothers name brings back fond memories of growing up in the community, hanging out at the Soda Shop with all the gang, eating those GREAT hamburgers and enjoying that
homemade ice cream. May the Lord bless and keep you
Our sympathy and prayers are with you at this difficult time. Mrs Arthur sure was a sweet lady.We have talked several times about the good hamburgers and chocolate ice cream we got at the Soda Shoppe. Sure would like to see all the family again.
I am so sorry to hear about Mom’s passing. I always thought of her as my other mother for she was always so good to me when I worked at Arcadia Dairy Farms and how sweet she was to my daughter Tammy. Getting to spend nights in her big house was always a treat for us. She is going to be missed for she was one of a kind and no one could every take her place. My deepest sympathy goes out to all of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and the rest of her family. I will remember her fondly and all of the good times we had together.
