Minnie Bell Gillespie

Minnie Bell Gillespie, 80, of Maggie’s Place, 2189 Smoky Park Highway, Candler, died Friday, February 7, 2003. Mrs. Gillespie was born in the Little Pine section of Madison County and was a daughter of the late Chief and Nola Shelton Grooms. She was married to James Lemuel Gillespie who died in 2000 and was a member of Western Chapel United Methodist Church. She is survived by four sisters, Thelma Stewart of Candler, Norma Medford of Canton, and Evelyn Williams and Ollie Williams of Asheville, and a brother, James D. Grooms of Candler. Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Sunday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Gillespie officiating. Burial will be at Western Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
