Myra Sammons Taylor, 87, of Asheville, formerly of Kentucky, died Wednesday, January 24, 2007.
She was born January 15, 1920 to the late Bennie and Aletha Sammons. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son Clyde E. Jackson, and her sister, Lucille S. Gill.
Surviving Ms. Taylor are her daughters, Ann Whitener, of Asheville, and Barbara Jean Jackson, of Maryland; grandchildren, Donald Whitener and wife, Donna, Barbara Davis and husband, Scott, Myra W. Weeks and husband, Ricky, Anna Shipley, Robert Whitener and wife, Tamye, Dawn Holder, Ritchie Hunt and wife, Rhonda; 11 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the Groce Funeral Home chapel on Patton Ave. with the Rev. Mike Thomas officiating. Entombment will follow at Pisgah View Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. At other times, the family will be at Ms. Taylor’s residence, 615 Biltmore Ave., Apt. D4 Beverly Condos, Asheville.
