MYRTLE LANCE MURRELL ASHEVILLE - Myrtle Lance Murrell, 85, of Caribou Rd., died on Tuesday, May 17, 2011, at Memorial Campus, Mission Hospitals. A native of Buncombe Co., she was a daughter of the late Gaston and Carrie Morgan Lance. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Grace Austin, Hazel Ayers, Lacy Byrd, Ethel Austin, and Mabel Warren, by her brothers Henry Lance, Dale Lance, Doyle Lance, and Jay Lance, and by her former husband and friend, Howard Verlon Reece, Sr. Mrs. Murrell was a graduate of Sand Hill High School. She was retired from Square D in Asheville. She loved to read, loved country music, and loved to garden. Mrs. Murrell is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Sprouse, of Leicester; four sons, Gary Reece and fiancée Sharon Stamey, of Clyde, Howard "Butch" Reece, Jr. and his wife Joyce, of Asheville; James "Eddie" Reece and his wife Wanda, of Asheville, and Bobby Reece and his wife Virginia, of Asheville; 10 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren. A funeral service for Mrs. Murrell will be at 3:00 p.m. on Friday at New Morgan Hill Baptist Church the Revs. Roy Houston and Bud Lance officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Her family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

  8. Myrtle was a very pleasant person and always nice to everyone. I worked with her at Square D for several years. My prayers and thoughts go to her son, Gary, and all the family.
