Myrtle Lee King, 81, of 8 Hopedale Circle,
Asheville, died Sunday, Nov. 1, 1998 at the
Hospice Solace Center.
A native of Buncombe County, she was the
daughter of the late Haskel and Vonnie Cogburn
Goldsmith and wife of the late Ernest C. King Jr.,
who died in 1992.
Mrs. King retired from Kellwood Manufacturing
in 1972 with forty years of service and was a
member of CMA Church in Emma.
She is survived by two sons, Donald
Burnette of Nashville, TN., and Harold Burnette
of Asheville; two step-daughters, Diane Lunsford
of Asheville, Judy Lane of Leicester; two step-
sons, Tommy and Gary King of Asheville; two
sisters, Eva Cagle of Asheville and Blanche
Elmore of Rockingham, NC; three brothers, Birt,
Emmett and Herbert Goldsmith all of Asheville;
one grandson, three granddaughters, one great-
grandson and several step-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 11 am Tuesday in
the chapel of Groce Funeral Home, with the
Revs. Robert Peurifoy and Tom Pierce
officiating. Burial will be in Green Hills Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 pm
Monday and request that in lieu of flowers
memorials be made to Mountain Area Hospice PO
