Nadine Tipton, 64, of 13 Lynwood Circle, Asheville, died on Friday, October 16, 2009, at her residence. A native of Big Stone Gap, VA, Mrs. Tipton was a daughter of the late Clifton Barker and Bonnie Barker Mullins. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Judy Myers, and brother, Arnold “June” Barker. She was a member of Crosspoint Church, in Weaverville. Mrs Tipton is survived by her husband, Burley J. Tipton; son, Ricky A. Tipton and wife Chris; siblings, Dallas Barker and wife Jeanette, William “Sonny” Barker and wife Jean, Roger Barker and wife Betty, Charlotte Eagle and husband George, Sandra “Ellen” Jones and husband Frank, Douglas “Butch” Barker and wife Susie, and Susie Gibson and husband Allen; and grandchildren, Kayla and Jacob Tipton. A funeral service for Mrs. Tipton will be at 12:30 p.m. Monday in the Patton Ave. chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. Roger Lunsford officiating. Interment will follow at the Western Carolina State Veteran’s Cemetery, in Black Mountain. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Crosspoint Church, 34-8 Union Chapel Rd., Weaverville, NC 28787.

    I am so sorry to hear of your loss. You guys were one of my favorite stops. I always looked forward to talking with you and Nadine.

  2. Nadine was my dearest friend and even though we hadn’t been able to see each other in a while, memories of our life in Asheville are always filled with times with Nadine and Burl. Nadine is safe in God’s arms now. God bless you all.

  3. Burl and Rick, I am Diana Carson’s sister. I knew you both and Nadine by visiting Diana and Steve when they lived next door to you, there in Asheville. I am so incredibly sorry for your loss.   8. Kinda was my aunt. My mother, Judy Lynn Myers was her sister. I spent several weeks at her home one summer when I was 9 or 10 years old. Aunt Kinda and Uncle Burl were very kind to me
    I spent those weeks riding bikes with my cousin Ricky. This visit was and is one of my favorite childhood memories. I’ll see you in Heaven Aunt Kidda. Until then please watch over me and my family.
