Arden ~ Nathan Edward Smith, 20, of Arden, died Saturday, May 20, 2006. A native of Morehead City, he was a son of Kent and Dorothy Dyess Smith and worked in construction. In addition to his parents, he is survived by one sister, Melissa Redfearn and her husband Harry of Asheville and two brothers, Michael and Joshua Smith, both of Asheville. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, May 23 in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian with the Reverend Larry Henderson officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home. The family requests that memorial donations be made to the Eblen Traumatic Brain Injury Foundation, 12 Regent Park Blvd, Asheville, NC 28806.

  4. I am so very sorry for your loss. I can’t imagine the pain of losing a child but I can imagine it is possibly the most difficult experience God could ever ask a parent, siblings and family to endure. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you. Although those left behind may be feeling extreme grief, remember that Nathan no longer feels the pain of all that he experienced while here on this earth. His journey to be with our Father, although seemingly untimely, is surely a glorious experience for him.

  40. I am so sorry to hear about your loss. Please if there is anythin i can do. I taught at Sevier when Nathan was there. I was never his teacher, but i would talk to him every day. Nathan was always respectful towards me and he was a fun guy that always made everyone laugh. It sadden my heart when i heard about his death. He will be missed. Even though i havent seen him in years, he left a great impression on me. I will continue to pray for your family.
