NELIA W. MEADOWS
LEICESTER – Nelia Webb Meadows, 76, of 54 Browntown Road, Leicester, died Wednesday, January 26, 2011, at her home.
Mrs. Meadows was born in Haywood County and was a daughter of Mary Etta Rathbone Webb of Leicester and the late Jesse Marvin Webb. She was also preceded in death by brothers, Ray Webb, Roy Webb, and Wiley Webb, and a sister, Shirley Webb.
She was a former employee of Square D and also worked alongside her husband in the operation of their dairy farm for 20 years. She was a member of Bell United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Meadows was a fabulous cook and especially enjoyed flowers, gardening, and sewing. She was dedicated to her family as a loving wife and wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She is survived by her husband, Don J. Meadows; two daughters, Penny Lewis and husband, Tony, of Leicester, and Melodie Meadows and husband, Ralph Redpath, of Asheville; three sons, Gary Meadows and wife, Donna, of Leicester, Sammy Meadows and wife, Becky, of East Flat Rock, and Jeff Meadows and wife, Lisa, of Leicester; four brothers, William “Bud” Webb of Asheville, Jim Webb and wife, Linda, of Leicester, Jerry Webb of Asheville, and Fred Webb and wife Lavonne of Horseshoe; eleven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Phillips officiating. Private interment will follow at Bell United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
Mrs. Meadows loved flowers and the family would appreciate them, or memorials may be made to CarePartners Hospice, PO Box 25338, Asheville, NC 28813.
Her family expresses sincere appreciation to Mrs. Meadows’ caregivers, especially Margaret and Wade Meadows, Jr., Sherry Huffman, Shirley McDonald, and the staff of Home Care Free.
