Nellie Gordon Lance

Mrs. Lance was born in Spartanburg, SC, and was a daughter of the late James O. and Georgia Pegram Gordon. She also preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Samuel Lance, who died in 1993, and by a daughter, JoAnn Fite who died in 1988. She was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.

She is survived by one daughter, Penny Bakken of Fairview; two sons, Sonny Lance of Fairview and James Lance; one step-daughter, Dorothy Mills of Burlington; one sister, Willie Russell of Marion; nine grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Friday at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Bill Day officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

His family will receive friends from 7 - 8:30 pm Thursday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue where Mrs. Lance will remain until being placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service.
