Nellie "Nell" Boyd, 88, of Asheville, NC, passed away on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at Asheville Health Care.
Born in Columbus, NC to the late Oscar and Mary Stepp McQuinn, she was a member of Beverly Hills Baptist Church and is preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd H. Boyd.
Survivors include two sons, Larry Boyd (Teresa) of Asheville, and Gary Boyd (Faye) of Knoxville, TN; one daughter, Linda Cox (Louie) of Lexington; six grandchildren; six great grandchildren; two sisters, Argie Case of Lake Hartwell, SC and Jeanette Shope of Newton.
A funeral service will be held Monday, July 10, at 12 Noon at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery Chapel. Rev. Bill Snyder will officiate and burial will follow.
Groce Funeral Home on Tunnel Road is assisting the family.

I am so sorry to hear about Nell , I loved her dearly , enjoyed working with her for years.
Nell was a member of the Red Hat Society (the Sassy Hatters) for over ten years. I will truly miss her as a dear friend and my Red Hat Sister.
Larry, Gary, Linda & families, we were so sorry to hear about your mother. She was always friendly and had a smile on her face. We have been in this neighborhood for 49 years & we have always admired how well Nell took care of her home & yard. Although we have not seen her in the last few years, we remember her fondly. May you feel God’s peace & presence in the days & weeks to come.
We were blessed to have Nell join us in our Sunday morning church service at Asheville Health Care. She was a very sweet l Christian lady that will certainly be missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family.
