R. Nick Rose, Jr., 71, of Asheville, passed away Monday, August 27, 2018, at Mission Hospital. A native of San Francisco, Nick was a son of the late Rudolph Nicholas Rose, Sr. and Alberta Spell Rose. He was also preceded in death by a step-son, Wesley Rogers. Nick wanted to be remembered as proud to be a southerner and a citizen of WNC. He was a Methodist christian, devoted to his family. Nick was a lover of music (guitar and bass), sports cars, all things mechanical, and a good "fixer upper". He was quick to help family and friends, and was a lifelong artist of oil canvas and murals. Nick was also a 40 year civil servant with the state of NC. Surviving are his wife, Pamela Chenault Rose; daughters, Cherie Kamisol (Michael) and Christina Rose; step-children, Cliff Franks (Michelle) and Sara Letke; grandchildren, Julia Jones, Christopher Jones, Elizabeth Kamisol, Meredith Cook, Grayson Cook, Isaac Franks, Andrew Franks, Paige Letke, Jonathan Rogers, and Skye Edmonds; brothers, Glen Rose (Suzanne), Phillip Rose, and Mark Rose (Missy); nieces, Katie Gould Marks and Rebecca Rose Cole; and nephews, Spencer and Logan Rose. Memorial services for Mr. Rose will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at Central United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Dr. Rob Blackburn officiating. A reception will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions should be made to Samaritan's Purse, International Relief, PO Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607. Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue is assisting the family.

  2. I remember your Dad from growing up in Bee Tree Forest. He was the coolest Dad in the neighborhood! I loved when we got to ride in the van! Prayers of peace and love to all of you.

  3. I am so sorry for your loss. Nick will be missed by his many friends and family. I worked at DSS in Cleveland Co. And met Nick. He was a very kind person and treated everyone well. Nick, Dawn Robbins, and Sam Robertson were great in their training sessions. Bob Cater who is deceased was also part of their team. They were really a team. Nick was such a good artist also. He painted a lovely portrait of our home a few years ago. Prayers for your family and all his friends.

  4. Growing up in Asheville and attending Haywood Street United Methodist Church, I grew up knowing Nick and his family, as well as his wife Pamela. Hearing the news of Nick’s passing made me very sad. Nick was so very kind to me and my family. A gentle man with an incredible smile is now resting in the arms of our Heavenly Father.

  8. I adjured Nick in HS.. I remember him as always congenial and nice to everyone.. running cross country and playing sports. It was always clear that Nick would be successful in life. RIP
