Nola Caldwell Waldroup, 94, widow of Floyd Waldroup and mother of the late Shelby Waldroup Caldwell, passed away on September 19, 2013, at Madison Health & Rehabilitation Center in Mars Hill, North Carolina. She is survived by two granddaughters, Jacqueline C. Byerly of Asheville and her husband Mike, and Joyce C. Stansell of Greenville, SC and her husband Duke; and four great grandsons all of Asheville, Justin Byerly, Grant Byerly and his wife Amanda, Jake Stansell and his wife Christi and Joshua Stansell. She is also survived by her son-in-law, Paul Caldwell, two brothers, Troy Caldwell and Saul Caldwell, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. A native of Madison Co., and a longtime resident of Buncombe County, Nola was the daughter of the late Melvin Caldwell and Ellie Plemmons Caldwell. She was a member of Mount Carmel Baptist Church. Nola was a loving mother and grandmother. She loved her immediate and extended family with all her heart. Nola was an inspiration to all who knew her. She lived life to the fullest with a positive spirit and a joyful heart. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the friends, neighbors and care givers who lifted them up with prayer and support during Nola's illness. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday in the Patton Ave. chapel of Groce Funeral Home, with Rev. Dr. Ronnie Owen officiating. Burial will follow at Ashelawn Gardens of Memory in Asheville. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be made in her memory to Mount Carmel Baptist Church, 200 Mount Carmel Road, Asheville, NC 28806.
