  11. My sincerest condolences to the Cook family, upon the loss of your loving mother and grandmother. I was a student of Norma’s at WCU in the Clinical Laboratory Sciences program from 1993-1995. She was always such a sweet woman with genuine concern for your learning and advancement, as well as your overall well being. What a blessing to have learned and shared with her in the professional realm of education. God Bless. Charles E Taylor, MPH, MT(ASCP) Candler, N.C.

  14. Norma Cook was a charter faculty member when she and I, along with Mary Edwards started the Medical Technology Program (BSMT) at Western Carolina in 1976. She served as a beloved faculty, mentor and clinical coordinator for the program for 25 years. No one was loved more by the students than Norma. I am so sad she is gone. Recently, Christine Stevens, Mary Edwards and I had the pleasure of visiting with Norma in her home. She was in her bed and going through the agony of end of life processes, but she was so upbeat, so alive. We laughed, we remembered and we celebrated her life. I am truly sorry I was out of town when she died and could not be present for the funeral, but I am truly happy that I got to spend that last evening with her when she was so much alive. Rest in peace my respected and loved colleague. You deserve the rest.

  16. Norma was one of my instructors. She treated her students like family. She was a funny lady and a wonderful person. She will be missed. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family. Cynthia Huneycutt Housel, MT class of 1990.
