Norma Grafing passed away on February 7, 2021 at the age of 99. Norma was born on January 17, 1922 to William and Anna Kunz. She graduated from Franklin K. Lane High School and Queens College, and later worked as a secretary at Chemical Bank in Manhattan, New York. In September, 1950 she married John “Jack” Grafing and became a full-time homemaker. In 1962, they moved with their 2 children to Toledo, Ohio, relocating to Fletcher, NC in 1972.

Norma and Jack traveled extensively during their retirement, visiting all 50 states and several foreign countries. Norma was a talented china painter and quilter. She also swam regularly and was a devoted member of the Lutheran Church of the Nativity in Arden, NC.

Norma is survived by her son Richard (Betsy) Grafing and grandchildren John Grafing, Beth (Mark) Wilkerson, Megan (Steven) Carscaddon, Katie Carscaddon (Gregory Swanger), Lindsey (Alex) Litaker, and 6 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother George, her husband Jack, and her daughter Ellen Carscaddon.

The family would like to express special thanks to Four Seasons Hospice and Universal Healthcare for the compassionate care they provided. Memorial contributions may be made to Four Seasons Hospice or Lutheran Church of the Nativity. A Celebration of Life for Norma will be held at a later time; she will be interred with her husband Jack at Arlington National Cemetery.
