Novella Penley

Novella Sharp Penley, 89, entered eternal life Thursday, May 25, 2017. Mrs. Penley was born August 27, 1927, in Haywood County to the late Charlie Sharp and Myra McMahan. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Jane Penley; son, Dale Penley; grandchild, David Penley; and great-grandson, Austin Penley. She loved riding to Cherokee (often with her granddogs, Sassy, Dixie and Toby riding with her) and going dancing. She has five children, Betty Penley, Donnie Penley (Darlene), Jr Hutchins, Max Hutchins and Louise Hutchins; nine grandkids, Michelle Ledbetter (Josh), Mark Penley, Tiffany Dalton, Ronnie Penley (Missy), Marty Penley (Michelle), Miranda Penley, Donnie Jr Penley (Amber), Kelly Penley and Kristin Willis; 11 great-grandchildren whom she loved very much, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Novella had a special friend named BC Wright (Red) who looked after her and took her places to visit. Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, June 1, 2017, in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. Leon Stewart officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the funeral home to assist with expenses.
