Asheville ~ O.G. Revels, 88, of 117 Vance Crescent Extension, Asheville, died March 27, 2001, at his residence.

Mr. Revels was born in Spartanburg, SC, and was a son of the late Robert Shelton and Rosa Anna McBee Revels. He was married to Anna Mae Poteat Revels, who died in 1989 and was also preceded in death by six brothers and two sisters.

He was a former resident of Aiken and was retired from textiles in SC. In Asheville he was a member of the Singles Club and of Grace Baptist Church and the Hugh Hensley Sunday School Class.

Surviving are one daughter, Jody Grose and her husband Hoyle of Asheville; one son, Jack W. Revels and his wife Joyce of Daphne, Alabama; six grandchildren, Marsha Joyner, Jan Martindale, Phyllis Cortner, Jackie Hinson, Jennifer Delaney and Chris Revels; and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM Thursday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. J. Derrill Smith officiating. Burial will be at Green Hills Cemetery.

His family will receive friends from 7:00-8:30 PM Wednesday at the funeral home and request that memorials be made to Grace Baptist Church, 718 Haywood Road, Asheville, NC 28806.
