Olive N. Macfarland

Born in Sharon, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Harry Eldon and Theresa Joanna Wenk Newton. She was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Robin Adair Macfarland; a son, Robert Lewis Macfarland; and a grandson, Jeffrey Lynn Morris. Among her many talents were oil painting and crafting with natural materials. She was a member of Black Mountain Baptist Church.
She is survived by five daughters, Betty Louise Miller of Norfolk, VA, Janet Ruth Morris and Barbara Dale Gaines of Black Mountain, Jo-Anna Moody of Highland Village, TX, and Sandi Halstead of Asheville; a son, Raymond Eugene Macfarland of Florida; twenty-two grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at 4:00 pm Friday, March 23, in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home.
Her family will receive friends following the service and at other times will be at the home of Janet Morris, 700 Craigmont Road, Black Mountain.

My sincerest sympathy to my great friend Jo-Anna Moody and to her family on the loss of their precious Mother. May God be with you and give you His comfort.
She now can see clearly and her feet dance lightly over the Carolina BLue Sky.
I have been lucky to know Jo who has shared with me many wonderful feelings about Olive, her mother. My prayers for the family. May God draw them close during this time.
My deepest sympathy for Jo and her family. I know Olive will be forever young, forever Blessed and forever loved.
