Opal was ‘Mamaw’ to so many children and they all adored her.
She was a wonderful grandmother with so much love for children. I will never forget her love and kindness to my children as well.
She was a comfort to those suffering hurts and disappointments. Somehow, talking to Opal just made you feel better.
My heartfelt sympathy goes out to Bud, Debbie, Randall, Danny, Carroll and all of her family.
I was so proud to call Aunt Opal my Aunt. Some of my best memories growing up had her in them.In later years even though we didn’t get to visit that much, when we did see each other it was always such a joy just to see and talk to her.In her final days on a visit to her home she somehow managed to talk and laugh with us in spite of the pain. What a blessing she was!Now she is rejoicing in Heaven with her family that have gone on before her! My love and prayers go out to Uncle Bud,Debbie,Randy,Danny,Carroll and all their family.
I have known the Elkins family many years. As a teenager I lived on the same street. Twelve years ago I had the good fortune of buying next door to Mr. and Mrs. Elkins. No one could ever have such kind, considerate and caring neighbors as I had in them up until the time they moved to Anderson. My heartfelt sympathy goes out to Mr. Elkins, the children and all the family members.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the family in this time of sadness. May the memories help ease the pain of your loss.
Sorry for your loss, I new the family for a long time, my prayers go out to all of you, may God be with the family at these times
Although I did not see Aunt Opal as often as I would have liked, she was always happy to see me as I was glad to see her. She never changed from the way I remembered her since I was a little girl. She always made me feel so welcome in her home.
I grew up knowing Ms Opal from going to church with her and her neice Carolyn and Son Randy at Malvern Hills many many years ago when Neal Swann was pastor.Linda,Raynae my sister Karen and I often sang together in church.I remember eating sunday dinners often over at Ms Opals house as a teen-ager when Randys son was just a little boy of 2 or 3 maybe.Ms.Opal was a true Christian lady who loved her family and loved the Lord.May God open his arms wide and welcome her into his fold where no sorrow never comes. If you all need anything my number is 712-8923.Please give me a call.Although the years have passed by,you all are still my family, just as mamaw Murray was.
Bob and Audie Bayer send our deepest condolences to Opal’s family. We remember her as a wonderful person and a wonderful employee. She always had a cheerful outlook and was someone we truly admired, as did everyone at American Threshold.
We will remember Opal always.
Fondly, Bob and Audie Bayer
I love you & miss you so much mamaw. Even though you’re not phyiscally here with us I know you are with me spiritually. Aunt Betty got to see you on Friday. We will miss her too. But mamaw I do remember the promise I made to you as you were going home & I know it won’t be long before all of us will get to be with you again. Thank you so much for all the things you taught me & being a wonderful grandmother. Most of all I’m thankful for all the talks we’d have about God & Jesus. You showed me how to have faith & all the other gifts that God has given us. I love you dearly,
Love Jennifer
