Ora Hedden Berry, 80, of Beaverdam Loop Road, Candler, passed away Sunday, November 21, 2004, at her home. Mrs. Berry was born in Macon County and was a daughter of the late Benjamin Harrison and Fannie Wood Hedden. She was married to William Edward Berry who died in 1986. She was also preceded in death by her sisters Lora Beyers (her twin), Pearl Pressley, Lela Patterson and Beulah Toms; brothers Oscar Hedden, Gus Hedden and Benjamin “Jack” Hedden, Jr., a grandson Anthony Apostolopoulos and a son-in-law Athanasios S. “Arthur” Apostolopoulos. Surviving are two daughters, Linda B. Apostolopoulos of Asheville and Brinda B. Massie and her husband Robert of Candler; a son, Edward Danny Berry and his wife Margaret of Candler; six grandchildren, Ora Maria Katsigianis and her husband Jimmy and Spiros A. Apostolopoulos and his wife Elizabeth, all of Asheville, Cassandra A. Thomas and her husband Chris of Powhatan, VA, Dawn Conard and her husband Robert and Timothy Massie and his wife Jamie and B.J. Massie and his wife Jennifer, all of Candler; four step-grandchildren Ronnie, Elaine, and Terrie Smathers and Larry Erwin; and seven great-grandchildren, Tommy, Sam, Daniel, Jacob, Will, Drew, and Anna. The funeral service will be at 12:00 noon Tuesday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Buddy Corbin officiating. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Her grandsons will be pallbearers. Her family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
