Oscar "Bud" Brackett

Oscar Eugene "Bud" Brackett, 74, of Candler, died Sunday, March 30, 2014, at Mission Hospital.
A native of Buncombe Co., he was a son of the late Charles Henry Brackett, Sr., and Alma Louise Inabinette Brackett. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Frances Louise Ingle, and a brother, Charles Henry Brackett, Jr.
Mr. Brackett graduated from Lee H. Edwards High School in 1957. He worked many years for the Coca-Cola Company, as an officer for the Asheville Police Department, Deputy-Sheriff for the Buncombe County Sheriff's Office, and retired from the N.C. Department of Corrections in 2004. Most recently he worked for the security department of AB-Tech.
Mr. Brackett is survived by his wife, Lynda Jean Jones Brackett; step-daughter Rhonda Jean Lynn and husband John; step-sons David Wayne Tinsley and Charles B. Sherlin; and many beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday at Groce Funeral Home, Patton Ave.
Lynda, and children; I was very sad to hear of Oscar’s passing. However we all know he is better now with no suffering or pains. He will be missed very much as he was loved, but he will never be forgotten. I have very fawn memories of Oscar (Bud) and our family gathering. He never saw a stranger and treated everyone like family, he loved his family very much and he will always be watching over each one of you as always. I am sorry to hear of Bud’s passing. I will always have the fondest memories of him and our working together at Craggy. He was always my ‘go to guy’ and was always three steps ahead of me regarding any task. Most of all, Bud was a true friend and a I will miss him greatly. Words cannot express Bud’s loyalty, integrity and friendship.
I am sorry to hear of Bud’s passing. I worked with him at Craggy CC as well and remember him from his days at AB Tech. He was definitely one of the good guys and will be missed by many. I enjoyed hearing his stories from his days at APD. My condolences on his passing.
I worked with Bud a couple of years ago when I was working as a police officer at A-B Tech. I started out training with him and am proud to say I learned a lot from him. I am very sorry to hear of his passing.
Bud is one of a kind;Everything that he did he shined,he made everyone around him feel special and safe with his knowledge and presence.I worked with Bud from 2004 until he retired .Bud was truly a great person and officer ,I am proud to have served with him.He will be missed by many. GOD BLESS EVERYONE.

I loved working with Bud at AB Tech. He was such a nice man and he was always so positive. I thought the world of him.
