Ottie Stewart Jordan, 102, of Haw Creek Circle, Asheville, went to be with Jesus on Sunday, December 8, 2002. A native of Buncombe County, she was a daughter of the late Bud and Lilly Stewart of Asheville and the wife of James Reagan Jordan who passed away in 1963. Mrs. Jordan was the oldest member of Merrimon Avenue Baptist Church and attributed her long life to God’s love and blessings along with daily readings of her bible. She is survived by a daughter, Helen Queen and her husband Guy of Asheville; a grandson, Steven R. Queen and his wife Melba of Asheville; three great-grandsons, Steven and Brandon of the home and Christopher of the U.S. Navy; a granddaughter, Susan Townsend and a great-granddaughter, Amanda, both of Fletcher and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Wednesday in the Patton Avenue Chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Reverend Tom Lomax officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hills Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Home Bound Committee of Merrimon Avenue Baptist Church, 283 Merrimon Avenue, Asheville, NC 28801.

  2. I have many fond memories of Aunt Ottie. I can’t ever remember her without a big smile and her great laugh. She brought lots of sunshine to many people. She will be missed and was very loved.
