Patricia Taylor Frye, 85, passed away on Saturday, August 26, 2023.

Born on March 13, 1938, in Shelby, NC, Patricia was a daughter of the late John H. and Eva M. Lowe Taylor. Patricia was raised by a loving grandmother, the late Florence Taylor, and by her late aunt and uncle, Lena Taylor and Banks Taylor. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Barbara Taylor Coffin.

Patricia was a graduate of Maiden High School, Maiden, NC, Class of 1956. She studied at Mars Hill University, Mars Hill, NC, before eventually working at and retiring from Wachovia Bank (now Wells Fargo). She accepted the Lord as her savior in 1946 and was a member of West Asheville Baptist Church since 1967, serving in the Children and Youth Departments and Women’s Missionary Groups, along with various other committees.

Patricia is survived by her husband of 65 years, David R. Frye, and two wonderful children, Cynthia Lynn Ledford (Teddy), and Robert Taylor Frye (Lynna). She was also known affectionately as “Mimi” to her seven grandchildren: Zaccary, Jordan, Elijah, Kathleen, Gavin, Ganin, and Garin.

The memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 17 at West Asheville Baptist Church.

The graveside service was held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 29 at Maiden City Cemetery, Maiden, NC. The Reverend Tony Hooper officiated.

Memorials may be made to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering, West Asheville Baptist Church, 926 Haywood Road, Asheville, NC 28806.

  14. David, I was so sorry to hear of Pat’s passing. She was the sweetest lady and helped me get my first job at Wachovia Bank in the 70’s. My parents Bob and Betty Lawrence, loved you and Pat so much. I’m sure there is a lot of rejoicing in Heaven!

  22. Pat was always cheerful and always helpful. She was one of the 1st people we met when moving to Asheville over 40 years ago. Our life was blessed to have stayed in contact with her over all the years through Domino’s Pizza, Merle Norman, and a lasting friendship. She will be missed. Heaven gained.

  25. Pat was a wonderful person who I had the pleasure of working with at Wachovia for several years. When I came out of Teller School Pat became my Teller Trainer at the West Patton Office. This began a long friendship with Pat. She was a very kind and gracious person who always took care of our customers. My thoughts and prayers to David and the entire Family.   27. First knew Pat as a new teller in 1975 at Wachovia. She was so helpful to me. Was happy to find her again when I joined West Asheville Baptist Church in 2021.
