Patrick Price, 89 of Asheville passed away on October 21, 2023 at his home in Asheville after declining health. He was born in Charlotte to the late Elmer and Clarice Price and survived by his loving wife of almost 65 years, Norma Price and his daughters, Janet Price Ferrell and her husband Woody of Asheville and Kathy Carroll and her husband Steve of Lexington Kentucky and five grandsons, Rush Ferrell (Caroline Harris) and Austin Ferrell, Mason Carroll, Beau Carroll (Jessica) and Sam Carroll. He loved his family deeply and taught them how to love and receive love well.

Patrick graduated with a degree in chemistry in the last class from Wake Forest University at the original campus. He worked at American Enka and then BASF before retiring and starting his own environmental consulting business. He was a long time member of West Asheville Presbyterian Church where he served the church in many rolls over the years and now a member of New Hope Presbyterian Church.

Pat served as Chairman of the Asheville City School Board, helping him to keep his eye and hand on his girls. He received the Order of Long Leaf Pine for his environmental work at the state level. He enjoyed hiking, photography, traveling and his passion was chasing old steam engines and creating model train layouts. 

There will be a gravesite service at Glade Valley Presbyterian Church at 11am on Oct 28, 2023. A memorial will be held at New Hope Presbyterian Church on Dec. 2 at 11am.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to ABCCM, 20 20th Street, Asheville, NC 28806 or WNC Bridge Foundation, 294 Overlook Rd., Asheville NC 28803 or charity of your choice.

The family expresses gratitude to the staff of Hospice Home Care to Pat and the family.

    So sorry to learn of your dad’s passing. So many fond memories of the Price family. Growing up in our neighborhood and West Asheville Presbyterian.
    We were blessed with Godly parents who taught us how to love the Lord and the importance of family and friends.

  4. Jeff and I have fond memories of Pat Price. He served West Asheville Presbyterian with a warm and generous heart. I first met him when he served on the Asheville City School Board. He and Everett Clark were positive leaders of the schools. The world could use a lot more Pat Prices.
