Paul James Sherlin

Mr. Sherlin was a native of Buncombe County and was the son of the late Kenneth and Mary Shipley Sherlin. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Rosa Lee Brigman.

Surviving are his wife, Shirl Sherlin; daughters, Donna and Debbie Sherlin of Fairview; son, Darrell Sherlin of Asheville; stepchildren, Tammy Gasperson and Wanda Robinson of Fairview, Billy DeGroot of Leicester, Troy DeGroot of Sandy Mush, and Bobby DeGroot of Marshall; a sister, Pearl Brigman of Florida; two brothers, Kenneth Sherlin, Jr. of Asheville and Bobby Sherlin of Florida; twelve grandchildren, Phillip Gilliam, Scotty Goggans, Jonathan, Christopher, and Michelle Gasperson, Bobby, Billy, Brittany, Tiffany and Trenton DeGroot, and Amanda and Kristy Burris.

Jim will be sadly missed by his family and friends. He was a loving and wonderful husband, father, and grandfather and a friend to all.

Funeral services will be 4:00 pm Friday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard Odom officiating. Burial will be at Cane Creek Cemetery.

His family will receive friends from 7 - 8:30 pm Thursday at the funeral home and at other times will be at the home of Donna Sherlin, 219 Webb Creek Road, Fairview.
