Paula Briggs Whittaker

Asheville - Paula B. Whittaker, 81, of 18-F Wesley Drive, Givens Estates, died Saturday, May 22, 1999 in a local hospice solace.
A native of Buncombe County, she was the daughter of the late Otis and Lottie Merrell Briggs and wife of the late Quay L. Whittaker, who died in 1981.
Mrs. Whittaker was a member of Fletcher United Methodist Church where she had been a long time choir member and was a retired employee of the Buncombe County Tax Listing Office.
She is survived by a sister, June Light of Annandale, Virginia.
Services will be held at 4 pm Tuesday in the Fletcher United Methodist Church conducted by the Revs. Ed Hillman and Mike Swofford. Interment will be in Shepherd Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 pm Monday at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian where Mrs. Whittaker will remain until being placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service.
Memorials may be made to Mountain Area Hospice, P.O. Box 16, Asheville, NC 28802.
