Arden– Pauline Hunter, 92, of Arden, died Sunday, December 22, 2024 at Mission Hospital.

A native of Buncombe County, she was a daughter of the late Roy and Hazel Rice Buckner. Pauline was also preceded in death by her husband Robert “RM” Marion Hunter as well as four sisters, Jane Ponder, Edna Mull, Beatrice DeBruhl and JoAnn Snyder.

Pauline deeply loved her family, especially her great-grandchildren. She attended Arden Presbyterian Church and was known by many as an expert seamstress. She will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends.

She is survived by her daughter, Wilma H. Conner (Gary) of Hendersonville; one brother, Larry Buckner (Joanie) of TN; two grandchildren, Jason Conner (Leigh Ann) and Tiffanee Gwaltney (Jeremy); seven great-grandchildren, Hailey, Kara, Conner, Whitley, Davis, Ashlyn and Eden as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, December 27, 2024 at Shepherd Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, Pauline’s family graciously asks that you consider making a contribution in her memory to either Arden Presbyterian Church or to a charity of your choice.

Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian is assisting the family.

  3. The passing of another part of my youth for certain. She wasn’t just the lady next door, she was “Aunt” Polly. I will always have fond memories of her. Thank you Wilma with sharing her – and your Dad – with our Grandmother. May she rest in peace and joy…

  4. Wilma, Polly was special and a talented seamstress. She did many alterations for me, Jennifer and Alyssa through the years for prom dresses, bridesmaid dresses, mother-of-the-bride dresses, etc. I will always remember her workroom and the great times we had there, chatting and laughing. Prayers to you and your family as you honor a great lady. May she rest in peace.
