Pauline King Chapman, 83, of Candler, reached the sunset of her life and reached sunrise in the Kingdom of God on Thursday, March 19, 2015. A native of Buncombe Co., Mrs. Chapman was a daughter of the late Homer and Edith Nix King. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Doris Fowler, Peggy Murray, H.B., Jr., Herbert and Jerry Lee King. Pauline and her sisters formed the "King Sisters Quartet" and traveled with circuit-riding minister, Rev. Robert E. Harris, for many years. Though she only sang in the group, she enjoyed playing piano at home. She also enjoyed to cook and sew. She was a member of Enka Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir. She was devoted to her family and loved to help both children and the less fortunate. She is survived by her husband, William Edward "Eddie" Chapman; daughter, Trina Chapman (Jon Moreau); son, Robin Edward Chapman; sisters, Martha Cole and husband Mack, and Becky Sharpe and husband David; brother, Larry King and wife Gail; grandchildren, Jonathan Chapman, Jon Paul Glover, and Wilder Sorto; and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one's choice. Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. is assisting the family.

  3. Since hearing the dreadful news March 19, 2015 , there have been overwhelming expressions of sadness regarding the passing on of Pauline Chapman. We have all have different ways of coping with the passing of our friend ,Paula .It is not easy to express how I feel with this loss, the initial shock is often succeeded by a mixture of the other feelings; disbelief ,incomprehension, anger and the concerns ‘(Mr. Eddie)’ and of all those who remain. We all have felt these emotions in the last few days ,so what I say to you all, I know as a friend to be true. I can say from my heart the we all love and miss Paula, she was an exceptional person. In good times and bad, Paula never lost her passion for faith, family and friends.

Paula lived life in her devotion to the fullest, with laughter, energy, and love for her family , and many friends. Even if you only knew her through her work, or through social and community events. People still felt like they really knew Paula,no one will ever forget her. I, for one , believe there are lessons we can learn and draw on from her life. I share your determination to cherish her memory. I hope for the future, that wherever we are , we can join together to express our grief for Paula’s loss and her good life. May we each thank God that we were able to share Paula’s life, for she always made us Happy.

Miss Paula you are traveling on a road that’s not paved, where the weather doesn’t matter, a place that has a small group of friends, family and your Parents. Miss Paula you are going where you have been chosen to go, because they need you. A place where, God is most likely to be.

God’s Speed to you Miss Paula.
