Pearl Murphy Redmon, 87, of Wedgefield Drive, Asheville, died on Tuesday, April 7, 2009, at Memorial Campus Mission Hospitals. A native of Duplin Co., NC, Mrs. Redmon was the daughter of the late Alfred Roscoe and Flossie Teachey Murphy. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Lucille Durden, Ruth Kilpatrick, and Myra Murphy; brothers, Holmes, and Earl Murphy; and her grandson, C. "Cole" Edmonds. Mrs. Redmon retired from Southern Bell Telephone after 30+ years of service as an operator. She was a member of the Pioneer Club, and a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church. Mrs. Redmon is survived by her husband, James Harvey Redmon, Sr.; daughter and son-in-law, Dianne and Cecil Edmonds, of Asheville; son and daughter-in-law, Harvey and Barbara Redmon, of Arden; and granddaughter, Alana Edmonds, of Fletcher. A funeral service for Mrs. Redmon will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday in the Patton Ave. chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. Christopher Webb officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service and at other times will be at Dianne's home, 56 Sardis Rd., Asheville, NC 28806. Memorials may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation at Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Attn: Gift Management Services, 5005 LBJ Freeway, Suite 250, Dallas, TX 75244, or to a charity of one's choice.
