Peggy Jean Smoot Gaddis, 77, died on Saturday, December 16, 2023.
A native of Gastonia, Peggy was the daughter of the late Harry Lee Smoot and Alma Jean Burr Womble. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Grover Franklin Gaddis, Sr., and by a granddaughter, Heather Augusta Gaddis.
She is survived by her daughters, Ingrid Swayngim and Nylora Gaddis; sons, Grover Gaddis, Jr., and Johnny Gaddis (Ame); grandchildren, Brandon Swayngim (Jennifer), Sheena Hagan (Michael), Johnathan Gaddis, Ky-Lee Barnes, and Brittany Burnette (Brandon); great-granddaughter, Hailey Hagan; and siblings, Faye Candler, of Mars Hill, Ruby Ingram, of Eaton, GA, Amos Womble, of Crawfordville, GA, Linda Walker, of Monroe, GA, and Marilyn Ayla, of Loganville, GA.
Her family will receive friends beginning at noon on Wednesday, December 20, at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. A celebration of Peggy’s life will follow at 1:00 p.m.

I’m sorry for y’alls loss Peggy was a very fun lady to be with she was fun prayers to y’all -
Peggy was a good woman. She always had a smile and a hug whenever I saw her. She will be greatly missed and God has gained another angel in Heaven. -
Peggy was a good person. She was very good to my daughter Ame’ and my grandson Johnathan, they both loved her dearly. Ame took care of Peggy her last week or so of life. Her son Johnny is a good man, he loved his mother for sure. I would like thank him for taking such good care of his family, just like he did his mother. RIP Peggy, your family and friends will miss you dearly.-
Peggy was a very friendly person,a good neighbor for many years my thoughts and prayers are with her family may God comfort you. -
