Fletcher ~ Peggy Joyce Shipman Souther, 74, died Wednesday, March 4, 2009 at Universal HealthCare Center.
She was a daughter of the late Edward and Christine Wilson Shipman. Peggy was also preceded in death by a sister, Martha Shipman and two brothers, Charles and Bobby Shipman.
Mrs. Souther is survived by her husband of 56 years, Wade Souther; a daughter, Sharon Lipe and her husband Ralph, of Fletcher; a sister, Gwen Marshbanks of Asheville and one grandchild, Kelly Cook and her husband, Shane of Hendersonville.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 7, 2009 at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian with Reverend Todd Reynolds officiating.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 –
2:00 P.M. on Saturday at the funeral home.
Burial will take place at Green Hills Cemetery.

Sharon, Ralph and Kelly, My thoughts and prayers are with you. I know how hard it is to give up someone that you love so much. The trials of this world can never touch her again. Her smile has not left her face since her feet touched Heaven’s shore. She is talking and visiting with all her friends and loved ones who have gone before her, and I imagine her running up to Jesus every few minutes saying ‘Thank You’ for letting me come home. Our prayers are with the family today. Thank God for that blessed hope we have of seeing again our loved ones who trusted in Christ. I enjoyed talking with Peggy the last several months and I will miss her. Since our Lord never grows weary, He is able to give strength to the weary. Peggy was always pleasant. During our conversations, I sensed that she was totally and thoroughly lost in the hiding place of His presence… May God bless and comfort you.

You are in my thoughts and prayers. Peggy was a Godly woman, wonderful wife, mother and grandmother, a Christian woman who always thought first of her family and of others. She will be missed by me and many others.
When I think of Peggy, I have to say she was ALWAYS A LADY.
