Peggy Warren Thompson, 72, of 36 Warren Road, Candler, died Monday, January 5, 2009, at St. Joseph Campus, Mission Hospital. Mrs. Thompson was born in Buncombe County and was a daughter of the late Jay H. and Faye Howell Warren. She was preceded in death by her husband, L. Henry Thompson, who died in 1999. She was retired as a head teller with Wachovia Bank. She is survived by one son, Ron Thompson of Mills River; one daughter, Lori Webb of Candler; two grandchildren, Brandon Maney and Brittany Maney; two sisters, Beverly Pressley and Judy Jackson; and two brothers, Robert and Phillip Warren. A memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. Adam Vernon officiating.

  13. I remember Peggy from 1955. We both started to work at the A&P on Lexington Avenue. Over the years I would see Peggy at the bank and she was still ‘the same ole Peggy’. Full of life and always with a smile and we would catch up on all the gossip. May God grant her family peace and love during this time. H. Smith

    I was so sad to learn of Peggy’s passing. You and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers. Your mom was an amazing lady and I’ll never forget the fun times we had working together at WB in Candler…she would get so excited when she’d see you at TCBY because she knew that you’d soon be slipping a peanut butter shake through the drive thru drawer!!! She always kept us laughing. I hope that your own beautiful memories of her will get you through the tough times ahead.

  18. Peggy was a dear friend of mine when we worked at Wachovia on Patton Ave. She always brightened my days and so much fun. She dearly loved her family and we loved her! So sorry to read of her passing, I will always cherish her memory.
