Petra Knef

Arden – Petra ("Petie") Knef, 93, passed away on Tuesday, April 19, 2011. She was a member of Arden Presbyterian Church. She was the beloved wife of the late Ferdinand H. Knef of Harwich, Cape Cod, MA. Petie was the daughter of the late Harry Edison Speicher and Petra Ludwig Speicher and was preceded in death by her brother, Harry Speicher, of Brielle, NJ. She is survived by her daughter; Barbara Gorman and her husband, Tom, of Arden, NC; and her son, Peter Knef, and his wife, Joan, of Sandusky, OH, three grandchildren; Amy (Ben) Williams, Erik and Craig Knef as well as two great grandchildren, Clara and Alex Williams and two nieces and nephews. Petie lived her life in NJ, OH and Cape Cod, MA prior to moving to Arden in 1999. Wherever she lived, she was always very active in her church, garden clubs, Girl Scouts and local library and enjoyed reading, golfing, cooking and gardening. We want to express our heartfelt thanks to the dedicated staff at Crescent View Assistant Living for their love and compassion for mother and her family. A service of celebration of Petie's life will be held 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 1, in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian conducted by the Reverends Chris Yates and Ken Crabb. Burial will be in Long Pond Cemetery in Harwich Center, MA.
