Phyllis MacRae
February 15, 1922 ~ November 22, 2016
Phyllis Arlene Reynolds MacRae 94, entered her Heavenly home on November 22, 2016 at the John F. Keever Solace Center with her family by her side. She was devoted to her family and firm belief in God. She was fondly called Mom by her loving children, Nana by her grandchildren and Wiggy by her friends.
Phyllis was born in Danielson, CT. to the late Edgar Jesse Reynolds and Annie Laura Roberts Reynolds on February 15, 1922. She was preceded in death by her son Ronald Walter MacRae of Douglasville, GA, granddaughter Trisha MacRae of Bradenton, FL and 8 brothers and sisters. She also lived in MA and FL before settling in Candler, NC, where she was very involved in her church and anything her children were involved in. She raised her three children with love, patience, understanding and humility.
Phyllis was a Godly woman who loved the Lord, kind, soft-spoken and always made you feel special. Unbeatable in cards and games, loved spending time with her family, and traveling around the world. With her outgoing personality, she did well at sales and never met a stranger. She is dearly missed by her loved ones, who celebrate the fact that she is at peace with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
She is survived by her two daughters, Debbie Cross (David) of Livingston, Montana, Wendy Stokes (Ron) of Fletcher with whom she lived; daughter-in-law Marcia MacRae of Douglasville, GA and one sister, Laura Drechsler of Ocala, FL. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren, Mark MacRae (Mayte) of Hollywood, FL, Don MacRae of Douglasville, GA, Misti Leatherwood (Julian) of Candler, NC, Karmen Leatherwood Mira-Knippel (Johnny) of Franklin, NC and Leigh Leatherwood Holloway (Josh) of Fairview, NC; 13 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, she wishes that donations be made to Pole Creek Baptist Church where she was a member for years.
Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian is assisting the family.

Dear family,
I am sorry to hear of Ms. MacRae’s passing. She was a wonderful lady, and we always enjoyed talking with her. I was unaware of Ron’s passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this time of loss.
Phyllis had the same name (Arlene )as my wife. Revelation 21:4 says ‘ and He will wipe every tear w from their eyes and death will be no more. No more death! And the bible is not talking about heaven but EARTH! Read it so your self please!
I wanted to send my love and sympathies to the MacRae family. I am so sorry to hear of your recent loss. Losing a loved one in death can leave us with feelings of sadness and grief. However, the Bible provides a hope that will help to comfort us and to replace those negative feelings with those of happiness for the future. John 5:28,29 says, ‘Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out.’ These verses speak of the opportunity to be reunited with our loved ones who have died, to experience a time when ‘death will be no more.’ (Revelation 21:4)
