Phyllis Marie Lytle

Phyllis Marie Jenkins Lytle, 91, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 4, 2024.

Mrs. Lytle was born in Asheville, NC to the late William A. Jenkins and Lucy Marie West Jenkins. She was also preceded in death by her true love and husband of 50 years, Charles A. Lytle and her two sisters, Margaret Chapman and Katherine Miller. Phyllis received her Master’s in Education from Western Carolina and was a pioneering influence in the business department at AC Reynolds High School until her retirement in 1994. Her passion for education and technology led to her introduction of one of the first computers and a flagship advanced technology curriculum in Buncombe County Schools. She was an accomplished seamstress and quilter and gave generously of her time to numerous organizations.

She is survived by her daughter, Phyllis Madonna Nagel; granddaughter, Molly Driessen (Casey Driessen), great granddaughter, Emmette Driessen, and treasured nieces Kathy Brice and Jackie Powell and nephew Bill Miller.

Interment will be held at the WNC State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain on September 30 at 10:00 AM.
