Fletcher – Proctor Merton Dane, 94, of Hoopers Creek in Fletcher, passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at Park Ridge Hospital.
Mr. Dane was born January 11, 1918 in Ludlow, Vermont to the late William and Edith Spaulding Dane. He was also preceded in death by his late wife, Harriett Goldsmith Dane; a half brother, Edward Dane and a Host of Wonderful friends. He attended First Alliance Church in Hendersonville.
Proctor is survived by his wife, Hettie Laughrun Dane; a daughter, Nancy Ruby and her husband, David of Long Prairie, MN; a son, Bruce Dane of Bend, OR; a sister, Virginia Canale of Laguna Woods, CA; eight grandchildren and one great grandchild.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm, Monday, February 20, 2012 at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian on Long Shoals Road with Reverend Don Chapman officiating.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:00 at the funeral home. A reception will follow the memorial service at Arden First Baptist Church in Arden.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Alliance Church, 1821 Windsor Drive, Hendersonville, NC 28791.

Thought a lot of Mr. Dane. He was a very devout chrisitan friend. I knew his son Bruce from Bend Oregon when we worked at the paper office there. I always admired how Mr. Dane always had a smile and firm handshake when he met you. He was a special friend. So sorry to hear of his passing.
